DARREN HARRIS CO-PRESIDENT

Darren directs creative and marketing design while managing development, operations and production of training programs for Building Media Inc., the company he co-founded in 2000. He specializes in overseeing all design and development of educational programs, promoting industry best practices delivered through a variety of methods that allow trainees seamless navigation, access and completion. Darren has a wealth of internet technology development, curriculum design, communications and marketing experience, beginning with a career in journalism and editing, where he developed editorial and management capabilities in addition to training and reporting oversight. Taking experience gained in construction-related publishing while working at McGraw Hill, Darren moved into public relations for APA – the Engineered Wood Association, and then on to marketing and communications for iShow.com in 2000. During his career with BMI, Darren has overseen successful development and delivery of numerous projects that blend technology and dynamic training to the construction and building industry.

CRAIG SAVAGE CO-PRESIDENT

Craig Savage is Co-President of Building Media Inc. Craig helped found BMI in 2000, bringing with him over 25 years of multi-faceted experience in the construction and construction publishing/event business. Craig ran his own general contracting business, Savage Company, developing an expertise in computer science as it related to construction management – which eventually led him into the roles of editor, author, and industry speaker. In addition to editing his own construction newsletters in the late ‘80s and ‘90s, Craig edited and wrote for Journal of Light Construction magazine (JLC), and rose to vice president of sales, marketing, and director of JLCLIVE events in 2000. In addition, Craig authored four books on carpentry, contracts, and construction software, and in 2000 became the business development director at Bob Vila.com. Today, Craig devotes his time between business development, strategic sales and marketing, and “future proofing” BMI.

LESLIE DAVIDSON SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER

Leslie supervises custom development and delivery of online educational and informative materials promoting green building, energy efficiency, worker safety and construction industry best practices. With career roots in publishing, promotions and event management, her skills allow her to successfully manage creative teams and to deliver to a variety of accounts. As a BMI Project Manager, she supervises high-end custom projects from conception to completion; liaising between clients and suppliers while developing and supervising budgets and project timelines to ensure all deadlines. Leslie provides excellent customer service to a variety of satisfied BMI clients, including The California Energy Commission, the International Code Council and DuPont Worker Safety Training. She manages all aspects of McGraw-Hill’s Construction Continuing Education Center, including curriculum development and delivery, dynamic computer based presentation and extensive tracking and reporting of thousands of AIA credits every month. She brings creativity and exceptional program implementation and management experience to all the clients that BMI serves.

DON WHIPPLE SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER

Don has assisted and managed all facets of project development, management and production including development and delivery of learning management systems designed for computer based training, educational multi-media content, and blended educational programs throughout the project scope. In his role as Project Manager, Don draws from experiences in field sales, marketing, management and education to provide oversight in day-to-day management of projects, which includes orchestration of communications along with all aspects of reporting, developing, delivering and maintaining training programs and computer based delivery solutions. With BMI since 2008, Don has extensive experience creating front-facing user interfaces for BMI’s LMS’s. He has overseen development, launch and implementation of several intuitive e-learning projects for BMI. He has also worked to develop and implement successful blended learning programs, including PECI Building Commissioning and Energy Auditing Training, along with field based, hands-on mobile device e-learning and tracking projects for Texas iComply and Huber Engineered Woods.

MARGARET TUREK ART DIRECTOR, GRAPHIC DESIGN

Margaret serves as Executive Creative Director and Senior Designer for BMI where she creates all graphic and print design for the company, including all corporate identity artwork. Margaret designs, develops, and supports web sites for clients with a focus in cross-browser compatibility, mobility and accessibility standards. As an original employee of BMI since 2002, Margaret has been responsible for the visual design and development of corporate and government client web sites while providing technical support for clients and team members, including design of client web architecture and programming web sites. With BMI almost since its inception, she has been involved in the design and production of all company online learning projects.

CHUCK JEPSEN – SENIOR PROGRAM CONSULTANT, LEAD PROGRAMMER

Chuck has designed and directed development of a multitude of computer based training solutions for BMI. As a founding partner of BMI, Chuck has over thirty years’ experience in internet-based training solutions and production and has independently produced and developed hundreds of successful training programs, including the Affordable Green Housing Online Academy, McGraw-Hill’s Continuing Education Center and the CertainTeed Academy of Continuing Education. Chuck has a degree from Yale University, and during his tenure at BMI designed and directed production for Texas iComply Energy Code software and oversaw development of baseline technical training software for the DOE’s Weatherization Assistance Training Program.

DAVID MORRISSETTE - SENIOR PROGRAMMER

Dave has 32 years’ experience in the information systems industry working with leading edge technology and serving as application developer, web designer, project manager, system engineer and sales support professional. He was instrumental in designing and developing BMI’s highly customized LMS, recently working on the McGraw-Hill and DuPont websites including DPTU, a multi-language portal supporting a world-wide client base. His technical skills include Drupal, PHP, MySQL, ASP, HTML and the computer languages BASIC, FORTRAN, Pascal. He is also versatile in Dreamweaver, Macromedia Director, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and MS‑Project. While he has extensive programing and technical skills he has also worked on the design and development side as a project manager and system analyst and knows how to translate a client’s vision into interactive, user friendly technology.

URSULA MAVILA – SENIOR PROGRAMMER

Ursula graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor of Science Degree. She has over 20 years of programming experience building desktop applications, writing scripts for back-end processing, developing internal tools and creating websites. Her past experience includes talking the initiative to completely automate an Electronic IRS Filing Application, replacing a process requiring human intervention to send IRS returns and receive acknowledgements from IRS centers several times a day. This system was capable of handling over 500,000 tax returns and generating revenues of one million for the tax season it was used. She has also been a key individual in the development of the new shopping feed handler previously built by Intel, featuring a more robust, image handling system with improved error detection. Ursula has been responsible for all technical aspects including database architecture (SQL Server 2005), IT (dealing mostly with IIS 6.0), internal and external user support, and background processing using PERL. Her technology use experience includes: Visual Basic, Oracle, ODBC, PowerBuilder, and PDQCOMM communication software. She has worked in multiple languages and technologies, such as PHP, SQL, Javascript, JQuery, CSS, JSON, AJAX, XML, ASP.NET, ASP, JAVA, C, C++, Powerbuilder and more. In addition to her mastery of programming language, Ursula is also fluent in Spanish.

WENDY BRUNNER – SENIOR PROGRAMMER

Wendy is a veteran software developer with a wide range of experience in the tech world, from building front-end web pages to writing SQL scripts for data analysis and reporting. Select projects include creation of an application using database events and SQL listeners to monitor incoming data to transform the data into various XML specs and, using threads, sent the data to third parties; creation and maintenance of an interim lead capture system in PHP which keeps business running during a total technology failure; and assisting in database design for new products using real-time XML data transfer. Wendy has worked with many web technologies and programming languages, including Microsoft Visual Studio, C#, HTML, XML, ASP.Net, .Net 4.5, CSS, JavaScript, PHP. Her database experience includes SQL Server 2012, Database Design and Creation, SQL, T-SQL, Brokers, Listeners, Triggers, Foreign Keys and Stored Procedures.

DEANE EVANS- LEAD INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN

Deane Evans has been creating online training for the built environment since the inception of distance-learning for this market sector and has served as the lead instructional designer for the majority of BMI’s successful training projects, including McGraw Hill Construction’s online Continuing Education Center, PECI Building Commission, and Weatherization Workforce Training. Deane works with BMI’s content developers to provide overarching instructional design and manage development of the core of assets that make up robust, engaging training programs.

ERIK SAVAGE- PRODUCTION MANAGER

Erik oversees production aspects of several projects for Building Media, Inc., and brings extensive experience in digital content development -including embedded animation, video production, interactive testing and FLASH simulations. Erik’s talents extend to still photography, digital illustration and graphic animation. Erik had worked as a freelance chief video editor and special effects animator, and completed projects for Food Innovations, Southern California Edison, CEC, NYSERDA as well as the Path Concept House since coming to BMI in 2007.

ANDY REINES JUNIOR PROGRAMMER, TESTING MANAGER

Andy has designed upgrades and revisions to existing BMI websites while assisting to implement features on numerous web sites for customers. He has been involved in designing, monitoring and maintaining a variety of web sites and applications containing dynamic processing. Andy is valuable in assisting with administrative backend maintenance, evaluating end user experience and assisting with programming development. His IT training and attention to detail allows BMI to provide timely assistance and quality solutions to clients.
