The site allows users to satisfy their continuing education requirements in a flexible, convenient online environment. The online format benefits sponsors and manufacturers by allowing them to track course use and identify market trends; it also helps them target, educate and influence those design professionals responsible for specifying relevant products.

BMI developed the technology that drives the unique learning platform, which uses a 'mentored learning' format. The approach improves subject understanding and retention by directing participants to specific sections of the course or article when they answer a question incorrectly on the test.
